Having different interests is not the point. Understanding that different people are interested in different things is not a difficult concept to grasp. It is those that simply have no interests that are so baffling. With very very few or no interests of course comes a total lack of curiosity. Not caring one iota about what is going on in the world and why. Those that can throw out a couple of interests automatically think that if you do not sure these interests you have none of your own. I mean why and how could you not be interested in grandchildren, gardening, and a romance novel book club? If you even dare to list a few of your own interests, many will be slack jawed at the mere mention of video games, reading, math/science, books, Shakespeare, Latin, movies, TV, NETFLIX, Dungeons&Dragons, cord management, dogs, bicycles, gear, technology, writing, fountain pens, politics, education, opera, chamber music, travel, food, wine, and making people uncomfortable.
Many people are simply okay with the day to day and a lifelong routine of work, dinner, FOX News, bed, repeat. On the weekends they may throw in the ever important and seemingly endless and difficult task of laundry and going to the Wal-Mart for supplies. A softball game may be thrown in there somewhere but let us not get too crazy. Monday is coming and we have to start bitching about that really really soon. How do people get through their days when they have no interests? What do they look forward to and what motivates them? Were they lobotomized as small children and therefore cannot see beyond there limited and BORING tunnel vision of life?
Fascinating things make for a fascinating life inside ones own mind. Even when the people around you and the day to day routine makes you numb, going inside your own head and exploring what is there makes it all worth the time.
